Where is it?
The Plaza Premium Arrivals Lounge is located landside in terminal 3 close to the arrivals hall.
The location is a bit odd as you actually need to exit the terminal building and walk a short distance outdoors next to the bus drop of area to get to the lounge.
The entrance is next to bus stops 17 and 18. Although the location is a bit unusual there are plenty of signs both inside and outside the terminal building and you will not miss the entrance, which is on the left hand side.
How do I get in?
The lounge is a pay-in lounge. You can pay at the reception to enter and also use various cards such as Priority Pass and Dragonpass.
No airlines currently use the lounge. Both Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines have their own arrivals lounges in the terminal.
What’s it like?
There are three Plaza Premium Arrivals Lounges at London Heathrow, at terminal 2, terminal 3 and terminal 4. In contrast to the arrivals lounges in terminal 2 and terminal 4 the arrivals lounge in terminal 3 is only open in the morning and closes at 2 pm. The other two lounges stay open until the evening. Also, in contrast to the other two arrivals lounges there is no hot food in this lounge.
The lounge is fairly small but adequate for the small number of visitors. Upon entering there is a small and rather nice lobby with the reception desk. In this area there are also some work desks.
The main lounge is located to the right of the lobby. The interior is surprisingly pleasant with a modern design, comfortable armchairs in dark grey and some plants to create a relaxed atmosphere.
The lounge has a very British-themed design with pictures on the walls featuring red double decker buses and paintings with famous London landmarks such as the London Eye and Big Ben.
Overall the modern design gives the lounge a good first impression. There are seating for probably around 30 guests but this should be adequate most times of the day.
Food and drinks
To the left of the lobby there is a second room with the self-service buffet counter and a small dining area. Just like in the main lounge there are pictures featuring famous landmarks and sites in London on the walls.
Since the lounge is only open in the morning and closes at 2 pm the focus is on breakfast items such as bread rolls and pastries as well as milk and cereals. In contrast to the other two arrivals lounges in terminal 2 and terminal 4 there is no hot food available.
In the fridge below the counter there are some snacks available such as yoghurt, fruit salad, finger sandwiches and salads.
Coffee and tea are available from a separate counter in the same room. There are all kinds of soft drinks on offer including juices and sodas but no alcoholic drinks.
Facilities
Free wireless internet is available, there are some work desks and also a selection of newspapers and magazines from a rack.
There are also showers available, but subject to payment.
The shower rooms are located in a corridor behind the main lounge. The doors to the shower rooms were open and they seemed to be in an excellent condition, designed in the same white and red colours as the dining area.
Final impression
A small arrivals lounge with a surprisingly pleasant and modern interior. Small selection of cold snacks and non-alcoholic drinks and with showers available at an extra charge.
