Where is it?
The Mashonzha Lounge is located airside in the transit hall of the international terminal, sometimes referred to as terminal A. The lounge is located on the upper floor, between the British Airways Lounges and the Emirates Lounge.
After passing through passport control and security control, follow the signs for gates A7-A18. Before the end of the shopping area you will see escalators for the lounges on the left hand side. The lounge is located on the balcony.
There are plenty of signs in the transit hall, however if there is no sign for the Mashonzha Lounge you can always follow the signs for BA and Emirates lounges.
How do I get in?
A few airlines use the lounge for their premium passengers. According to the sign by the entrance these include Qantas, Swiss, Cathay Pacific and Egyptair.
It is also possible to enter using various lounge cards and credit cards including Priority Pass and Diners Club. It is also possible to pay for access at the reception upon arrival.
What’s it like?
There are several third-party lounges in the international terminal including, no less than four different ones. One of the unique things with this lounge, which differs from most other lounges, is that this one offers a smoking room.
The interior is very pleasant, modern and stylish with a rather appealing design.
The lounge is not particularly large but there are two main seating areas and the contemporary design with the designer furniture, the unusual lamps and the African artwork on the walls all make a good impression.
Food and drinks
The self-service buffet offers some hot food and there is also a cold buffet with salads, fresh fruits, cheeses and sandwiches. There are also various cocktail snacks.
Red and white wines (South African of course), beer and a standard selection of spirits are available. Naturally there are also juices and sodas as well as a coffee machine.
Facilities
Free wireless internet is available, the password is available at the reception desk and on the tables. There are two TVs and a standard selection of newspapers.
There are restrooms in the lounge but no showers. And as mentioned the lounge has a smoking room.
Final impression
A rather nice lounge with a contemporary design and cool designer furniture. Reasonable selection of food and drinks, especially for such a small lounge.
