Good news for frequent travellers flying out of Paris CDG terminal 1. Priority Pass has signed an agreement allowing cardholders to use the Star Alliance Lounge in terminal 1.
The Star Alliance lounge is located in the non-Schengen area on the 11th floor. Passengers travelling to Schengen destinations can access the lounge, but this requires passing through passport control twice where the officer will ask for a same-day boarding pass as well as the lounge card. Although access is usually not a problem for passengers with an EU passport access is at the discretion of the border officer who is allowed to deny access.
The bad news is that although the lounge is open during the entire day from 5.30 am until 11.30 pm no access is given to Priority Pass holders until 11 am in the morning and from 9 pm until the lounge closes in the evening. This means during most of the US departures as well some evening departures to Asia.
There is also another third-party lounge in the non-Schengen area called Icare Lounge with no such restrictions, however this lounge is smaller and has a more limited selection of food and drinks.
Priority Pass has also signed an agreement with the Sheltair lounge in terminal 2D, the former Air France lounge which is now a third-party lounge. This means there are now four Priority Pass lounges at Paris CDG – Icare Lounge (terminal 1), Star Alliance Lounge (terminal 1), Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (terminal 2A) and Sheltair Lounge (terminal 2D).
Unfortunately there are still no third-party/pay-in lounges in any of the three terminals used by Air France (terminal 2E, 2F and 2G).
