I was very much looking forward to visit the new SWISS Alpine Lounge at Zürich Kloten airport which opened in the beginning of November. Based on the press photos and the description in the press release the lounge seems to be fantastic. However there was only one thing I failed to notice, it is only open on weekdays, and today is a Saturday.
So this is what the entrance to a closed lounge looks like. Complete fail today.
Some quick facts about the SWISS Alpine Lounge
The lounge is located in the same space as the old SWISS First Class Lounge, in the Schengen area in Concourse A, right opposite the transfer desks.
It measures 500 sqm and has capacity for 100 guests. The idea with the interior is to blend a “contemporary mountain hut with the comforts and the style features of the familiar SWISS lounges”.
The food and drinks concept also seems to be different from the other SWISS lounges in Zürich and the centerpiece of the dining area is a rustic oven where individually-prepared dishes as prepared and heated. They also have a selection of local Swiss wines and spirits in the lounge.
But as mentioned, the lounge is only open on weekdays. Monday-Friday from 5.30 am until 6.30 pm.
And it is open to Miles & More Senator and Star Alliance Gold as well as SWISS and Lufthansa Group business class passengers.
