Where is it?

The Hilton Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Hotel is located on the grounds of Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport outside Paris. The exact location is close to Roissypole, which is one of the two stations at the airport for the RER (the suburban train from central Paris).

If you arrive by train from central Paris you should get off at the first of the two stations at the airport, Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 1.

If you arrive by plane at terminal 1 or terminal 2 or by TGV high-speed train you take the CDGVAL automatic shuttle train to Roissypole.

If you arrive by plane at terminal 3 the hotel is just a short walk from the terminal.

The arrival experience

I arrived at the hotel just after 8 pm in the evening. Originally I was supposed to have been there before 7 pm, but unfortunately the incoming flight was delayed.

The check-in process was quick and efficient. I had booked a king guest room but after the booking process I had requested to be upgraded to a guest room with an airport view, subject to availability and at a small surcharge of a few euro. This was confirmed at check-in.

The reception

The hotel has a very spacious and rather elegant atrium lobby where there is also a spacious bar and a restaurant. It is especially effectful in the evening and has been named “Skylight” by the hotel. Overall the hotel gave a good first impression.

The room

This is a large hotel with no less than 392 rooms. The standard rooms are divided into standard Guest Rooms and Deluxe Rooms with either a king-sized bed or a twin bed. There are also family rooms. Furthermore there are Executive Rooms, larger Executive Room Plus rooms, both with access to the executive lounge, and suites.

I had booked a standard Guest Room with a king-sized bed. Paying a few euro extra to get a room with an airport view meant a room on a higher floor and obviously in a certain part of the hotel building.

The guest floor

The room was fairly spacious measuring 32 sqm but had a very old-fashioned and somewhat worn interior. A far cry from some of the newer Hilton airport hotels available nowadays.

The King Guest Room

The room had a large king-sized bed, a sofa with a side table (the sofa can apparently be used for a third guest), a work desk, and an LCD-TV. The room also had a closet, a safe, minibar and a kettle to make coffee and tea. The bathroom had a shower and a bathtub and the standard Hilton toiletries.

And the room indeed had a very good view overlooking the famous Concorde aircraft parked at the airport, the famous (or perhaps infamous) circular terminal building at terminal 1, parts of the apron at terminal 3, and the taxiway from terminal 1 and the northern runways to terminal 2 and the southern runways.

Food and drinks

There is a bar and a restaurant, the Skylight Bar and the Skylight Restaurant, both located in the spacious atrium. The bar offers drinks, cocktails and some hot and cold snacks and dishes and is open all day until 1 am.

The bar

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers French and international cuisine.

Other facilities

Wireless internet is available in the hotel, including in the guest rooms and in the public areas. However according to the signs you need to be an Hilton Honors member to get free Wi-Fi in the room while it is free in all public areas.

There is a heated swimming pool in the hotel as well as separate saunas for men and women, which I had time to visit quickly in the evening before it closed. There is also a fitness centre open 24 hours.

There is a conference area with 24 meeting rooms as well as a large ballroom

Service

Friendly and efficient service with nothing to comment about.

Breakfast

Since breakfast was not included in the rate, and since I had a morning flight with complimentary airport lounge access, I did not have breakfast in the hotel. But it was served in the Skylight Restaurant in the atrium.

Final impression

A good airport hotel with a stylish atrium, good facilities and a nice apron view from some of the rooms.
