Early morning in the very nice Finnair Premium Lounge in Helsinki. It is 7.30 am and the lounge is rather empty as there are few non-Schengen flights around this time. But a very pleasant lounge attendant is working at the combined manned bar and buffet area, greeting every passenger who arrives through the entrance door with a big smile and a cheery “Good morning” or “Hyvää huomenta”, which make you feel in a slightly better mood after a very early wake-up call.
And the breakfast buffet is certainly not bad either. It is excellent for an airport lounge and well comparable to the breakfast at a smaller hotel.
American pancakes, bell pepper and cheese frittata, and porridge with jam are among the hot dishes served this morning. The dishes seem to change fairly frequently.
And there are of course bread rolls, croissants, pastries, Fazer rice pastries and all sorts of ham, cheese and vegetables.
And not to forget, yoghurt or milk with different cereals, fresh fruits and two different types of smoothies.
And if you travel during a weekend or have a day off you can start your day with a glass of bubbles. Joseph Perrier is served in the lounge and the lounge staff will happily poor you a glass (or two) with your breakfast.
