British Airways has revealed some info and photos about the new first class wing at London Heathrow terminal 5, which will be introduced in April next year. The new “First Wing” will be a new and much improved addition for first class passengers as well as British Airways Gold and OneWorld Emerald customers.
The First Wing will be located next to the current first class check-in area in the southern part of terminal 5, which according to British Airways will be enhanced for more privacy. Afterwards there will be a dedicated security control with two lanes followed by direct access to the Galleries First Lounge and the Concorde Room. The idea is that the journey should be as seamless as possible for the top customers.
Fast track is available already today for business class and first class passengers as well as British Airways Silver and Gold and OneWorld Sapphire and Emerald customers, both in the northern part and the southern part of the departure hall.
For those using the fast track in the southern part of the terminal there is direct access to the Concorde Room (for first class passengers) already today through the door to the right after the security control. All other passengers get a rather lengthy walk through a large part of the transit hall, including at least two escalators, to reach the lounges.
The new First Wing will be a great feature for British Airways Gold and OneWorld Emerald card holders who will be able to skip that lengthy walk and get direct access from check-in to the lounge, most likely with just a few metres to walk.
