There are officially five lounges at Copenhagen Kastrup airport: the SAS Lounge, the SAS Gold Lounge, the Aspire Lounge and the Aviator Lounge. The latter is further divided into two lounges, a pay-in lounge and a lounge used by different airlines, the CPH Apartments. But there is in fact also a sixth lounge, which many people do not know about.
Georg Jensen is the world-renowned Danish silversmith, well-known for its modern silver design. In Decemer 2009 they launched the world’s first Georg Jensen airport lounge in the transit hall at Copenhagen airport.
The Icon Lounge is available to a selected number of Georg Jensen customers and partners. The idea is that the guests should be able to take a break and enjoy Danish design and lifestyle with peace and tranquility before returning to the busy airport environment.
The lounge design is based on the Georg Jensen store concept called ‘The Danish Home’, a modern Danish luxury environment. In the lounge snacks and drinks are offered, free wireless internet and those who prefer to read something other than e-mails and online newspapers can borrow a design book from the library. There are also TVs and departure screens.
But if you want to get inside you need to start buying Georg Jensen products, and probably a lot of them. Access is only given to VIP customers, members and partners.
