Did you know many airports in Germany offer check-in with luggage the night before departure?

Late night check-in means that you can check in already the evening before, and not just receive your boarding passes (which you can usually get as long as check-in for your flight is open) but also drop off your checked luggage, usually at a manned desk.

This may be useful if you have an early morning flight and you stay at a nearby airport hotel. You get rid of your checked luggage and can proceed directly to the departure gate in the morning. You can sleep a few more minutes and save the hassle of having to wait in a check-in line in the morning.

Late night check-in is available at most major German airports. Not all airports offer this and not all airlines are included, but here are some details regarding Lufthansa and the Lufthansa Group.

The information is from November 2019. If you plan on using the service, do verify the information with the airline or the airport as the details may change.
