During the inauguration ceremony of Finnair’s first Airbus A350 in Toulouse Finnair CEO Pekka Vauramo announced two new longhaul routes. Starting in May 2016 Finnair will be adding to new Asian destinations to the network map – Guangzhou and Fukuoka.

Helsinki-Guangzhou will start 6 May 2016 and will be operated four times weekly during the summer season until 29 October. Flight AY 67 will depart Helsinki at 17.00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays arriving in Guangzhou at 07.30 the next morning. Flight 68 will depart Guangzhou at 10.00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays arriving in Helsinki at 15.00.

Guangzhou is the third largest city in China located in the Guangdong province with nearly 24 million people living in the metropolitan area.

Helsinki-Fukuoka will start 7 May 2016 and will be operated three times weekly during the summer season. Flight AY 75 will depart Helsinki at 16.30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays arriving in Fukuoka at 08.00 the following day. The return flight AY 76 will depart Fukuoka at 09.30 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays arriving back in Helsinki at 13.55.

Fukuoka is located in southern Japan on the island of Kyushu and is the sixth largest city in Japan. The service is part of the joint business between Finnair, British Airways and Japan Airlines, enabling more connections and flexibility between Japan and Europe for the airlines’ customers.

“We have a long tradition of connecting Asia and Europe with smooth and fast connections via our Helsinki hub, and I look forward to expanding our network to these two exciting markets”, says Pekka Vauramo, Finnair President and CEO.

Both routes will be operated using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The timetables for both routes enable connections to and from several European cities.
