Star Alliance today opened its latest dedicated lounge, this time at Rome Fiumicino airport in Italy, which becomes the seventh Star Alliance lounge in the world.

This is the first time Star Alliance passengers in Rome get access to a proper Star Alliance lounge. Previously premium passengers have been directed to a third-party lounge such as the I Mosaici Lounge for Schengen passengers and the Le Anfore Lounge for non-Schengen passengers.

The new Star Alliance lounge is located airside in the Schengen area of the airport, in concourse D in terminal 3.

The design is fairly similar to some of the other Star Alliance lounges such as the lounges in Nagoya and Paris.

The new Star Alliance lounge has seating for around 130 guests. It is divided into several different areas with different purposes.

Italian designer furniture are used for the interior and there are dedicated sections both to those who prefer to socialise and relax in the lounge and to those who need to get some work done.

The lounge is open daily from 5.15 am until 9.15 pm and is available mainly for Schengen passengers but also for non-Schengen passengers who start their journey in Rome or who are in transit from a Schengen flight.

Rome Fiumicino is currently served by 17 Star Alliance carriers serving 25 destinations.
