Where is it?
The hotel is located on the grounds of Glasgow airport, the main international airport, not to be confused with Glasgow Prestwick airport which is a different airport. The hotel is located 3 mins by foot from the terminal building which makes it very convenient for late evening arrivals and early morning departures.
Downtown Glasgow can be reached using the airport bus and there is parking available both at the hotel and at the nearby car park.
There are two Holiday Inn hotels at the airport and they are both located next to the terminal building just a stone’s throw from each other. The Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport is more of an upscale full-service hotel whereas the Holiday Inn Express is a cheaper hotel with a slightly lower standard and fewer facilities.
The arrival experience:
I arrived quite late at 11 pm after an evening flight from London. The check-in process was friendly and very swift as most details had been given during the booking process, which was appreciated as it was getting very late.
The room
There are 143 rooms in total at the hotel. All rooms are standard rooms with either a double bed or a twin bed and there are also double rooms with a double bed and a sofa bed for 3-4 people as well as double rooms for guests with reduced mobility.
The room was very pleasant and rather stylish in white, red and grey colours. It felt modern, tidy and well-appointed. Although the room was fairly basic it had all the facilities needed including a TV, a kettle to make coffee or tea, a sofa and a bathroom with shower. The room also had a limited view of the apron.
Food and drinks
The hotel has a bar and a restaurant located in the lobby, however due to the late arrival there was no time for a visit.
Other facilities
Free wireless internet is available throughout the hotel. The are also two conference/meeting rooms.
Service
The service was friendly both upon check-in and check-out. It was very quick which was much appreciated as I both had a late arrival and an early departure.
Breakfast
The breakfast is included in most rates and it served in the restaurant opposite the reception in the form of a buffet.
Final impression
The location is excellent just three minutes from the airport terminal. The staff were friendly and the room was surprisingly pleasant and well-appointed. Considering the price the hotel was good value for money.
