Where is it?
The lounge is located airside in the transit hall between gates A1 and A2, this means a right turn after passport control and security control. The lounge is clearly signposted in the terminal.
How do I get in?
This is the only lounge in the terminal and is used by most airlines for their premium passengers such as Air France and KLM. However several US carriers have for some reason decided not to sign an agreement with the lounge.
It is also possible to pay for access at the reception desk and access the lounge using lounge cards like Priority Pass, Diners Club and Airport Angel.
What’s it like?
The lounge is reasonably new. It opened in 2007 at the same time as the new airport terminal was inaugurated. Princess Juliana airport has seen a steady rise in passenger numbers and a new terminal was needed.
The interior is surprisingly attractive for such a small airport with a very tropical feeling to it with plenty of pastel colours used in the design.
The lounge consists of two rooms. The main room features the entrance, the reception desk, a self-service buffet, a manned bar and a small business centre.
The second room features only seating areas with brown armchairs and colourful dividers.
Food and drinks
There is a manner bar in the lounge next to the reception desk. Non-alcoholic beverages are included in the visit such as juices, sodas, coffee and tea while beer, wine and spirits are available for purchase.
Next to the bar is a self-service buffet with some light bites. The food varies depending on time of the day with sandwiches, canapés and pastries in the morning and hot snacks in the afternoon including pies, chicken legs and meatballs.
Facilities
Restrooms are available in the lounge but there are no showers. Free wireless internet is offered (the password is available at the reception) and there is also a small business centre in a corner with internet computers and a printer.
Several departure screens are available inside the lounge and most announcements in the terminal are also heard inside the lounge. However due to the low number of departures every day the announcements are not overly disturbing.
Final impression
This is a surprisingly nice and tidy lounge with a modern and rather exotic interior. The selection of food is OK, just too bad you need to pay for all alcoholic beverages. All in all a pleasant place to kill an hour before a flight.
