Where is it?
The Courtyard by Marriott Hotel is located in downtown Belgrade. The location is pretty much as good as it gets in the city. The hotel is just around the corner from Trg Republike, Republic Square. There are also many nearby pedestrian streets with shops, bars, restaurants and outdoor cafes and many famous sites such as the Belgrade Fortress are within walking distance, just like most government buildings, parks, palaces and museums. A good starting point to explore the city.
The arrival experience
I arrived in the late evening by taxi from Belgrade airport. The journey to the airport took around 20 minutes.
The check-in process was friendly but efficient and I was quickly checked in and also informed about the breakfast hours in the morning.
The room
I had booked a standard room with a king-sized bed. The standard rooms are available either with a king-sized bed or with twin beds. Although Courtyard by Marriott is not a high-end hotel chain the room standard was excellent and my room was in an immaculate condition. Presumably this is a fairly new hotel.
The room had a very spacious and comfortable king-sized bed, a work desk and a closet. However there was no sofa or armchair. Free wireless internet was also available in the room.
There was also a TV and a kettle to make coffee or tea. The room design was very modern with the interior in white, grey and dark wood. Overall it was quite stylish, good value for money and gave an excellent first impression.
The bathroom was equally immaculate with a large mirror, toilet and a fairly spacious walk-in shower.
Food and drinks
The hotel has a bar and restaurant called the Credo Restaurant & Bar located on a balcony above the lobby. It is a very relaxed and informal place where you can have something to eat or drink in the evening. You also get a good view overlooking the Republic Square through the large panorama windows.
They also have an excellent selection of cakes and pastries.
Other facilities
The hotel offers a small gym which is open 24/7. There is also a small conference section with three meetings rooms, the largest with a capacity of 45 guests.
Service
Friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. The check-in process was swift and the following day the front desk staff helped me with various things such as organising taxis and storing my luggage.
Breakfast
The breakfast was served in the Credo Restaurant. The buffet-style breakfast had a very nice presentation but although there was nothing missing in the buffet the selection was not exceptional in any way.
Final impression
Excellent value for money. The location is excellent, the room was in a perfect condition and the staff were friendly and helpful. This is not a high-end hotel for visitors looking for traditional luxury, but if you are happy with a functional hotel with a good standard at a reasonable price this is a perfect hotel.
