Yesterday Norwegian became the first airline in Europe to introduce live TV onboard its shorthaul flights in Europe. The service will be available on all 87 Boeing 737-800 aircrafts equipped with Wi-Fi, accessible using a laptop, a tablet or a smartphone. The new service was launched on a flight between Oslo and Berlin by the CEO of Norwegian Bjørn Kjos.

Initially two TV-channels will be offered – Bloomberg Television and the Norwegian TV-channel TV2. Bloomberg will broadcast international news programs and business news.

The new service has been developed by Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE), a company specialising in onboard entertainment solutions for airlines. The project has been run by Norwegian Reward, the loyalty program of Norwegian, in cooperation with Norwegian Riks TV.
