Where is it?
There are two Celebi Platinum Lounges at Budapest airport. One located in terminal 2A (Schengen) and one located in terminal 2B (non-Schengen).
The Schengen lounge in terminal 2A is located airside in the transit hall, however in contrast to the other Schengen lounges it is not located in the SkyCourt area (where all the shops are located) but instead in one of the gate areas.
After passing through security control, turn right towards the A-gates and follow the corridor passing the A-gates on your left. The lounge is located at the very end of the corridor opposite gates A12 and A13.
How do I get in?
The lounge is used by a number of airlines for their business class passengers and top-tier frequent flyers such as the airlines part of the Lufthansa Group (including Lufthansa, Swiss and Brussels Airlines) as well as Iberia, Finnair and a few others.
It is also possible to pay for access and use various lounge schemes such as Priority Pass and Diners Club.
What’s it like?
For a small third-party lounge at a reasonably small airport like Budapest the Celebi lounge is quite pleasant to visit. The lounge is not particularly large with seating for possibly 40 guests but with two more lounges available in the Schengen area, both with a much better location in the terminal, the seating capacity seems adequate.
The contemporary design goes in blue, brown and beige and there are plenty of comfortable sofas and armchairs throughout the lounge. There are also a few nice design details such as the large mirror and the circular-shaped reception area in silver.
Food and drinks
The selection of food is surprisingly good with a decent cold buffet as well as some snacks, fresh fruits and soup.
During the visit they had for example chicken meatballs, burrito with pork, potato salad with sour cream and Greek salad.
The drinks selection is also quite good with red and white wine (mostly Hungarian brands), beer and various spirits, including a few local Hungarian liqueurs.
Coffee, tea, sodas and soft drinks are available in a separate coffee area.
Facilities
Free wireless internet is available and there is a standard selection of newspapers and magazines. There are also several TVs and departure monitors in the lounge.
Final impression
A surprisingly pleasant third-party lounge. It is not particularly large but has a nice design and a decent cold buffet and an equally good selection of drinks.
