Where is it?
The Hilton Garden Inn Krakow Airport Hotel is located right opposite the terminal building at Krakow airport. It takes 30 seconds to walk from the exit of the airport terminal to the entrance of the hotel, which makes the hotel very convenient in connection with late evening flight arrivals or early morning departures.
Krakow John Paul II Airport is located around 11 km from downtown Krakow. The airport is served by both trains and buses so the hotel can also be used for visitors who come to visit Krakow city, although a downtown hotel would of course be more convenient. It takes no more than about 17 minutes to travel by train from the airport to the central station in Krakow.
The arrival experience
I arrived late in the evening by airplane. The location of the hotel is indeed very convenient. After passing through customs into the arrivals hall there were signs for the hotel and once outside the terminal building I could immediately see the hotel building in front of me, on the opposite side of the taxi station and the passenger drop-off area.
Most guests had probably already arrived so the reception was completely empty and I was immediately checked in. The process was friendly and efficient by a polite young man and I was also informed about the breakfast in the morning and the hotel facilities.
Travelling with only hand luggage I entered my assigned room just about 20 minutes after landing.
The room
There are five room types available in the hotel. King rooms, Twin rooms, Twin corner rooms, Queen corner rooms and Queen family rooms. On top of these there are also suites available.
I had booked a King Room, paid partly by cash and party by Hilton Honors points and was assigned a room on the fourth floor.
The King Room was pretty much as expected. The hotel is fairly new, just like the terminal building opposite the hotel, and hence both the public areas of the hotel and my hotel room were in a near perfect conditions.
The room kept a good Hilton standard with a spacious king-sized bed, an armchair, a large work desk and TV. There was also a minibar and a safe as well as a closet.
The bathroom was fairly spacious with a shower, toilet and the standard Hilton toiletries.
Overall the room was both modern and stylish. It was fairly spacious for a standard room and had all the amenities needed, but without any excesses, which is probably a bit of the idea with a Hilton Garden Inn hotel.
My room overlooked the terminal building and you can see on the photo just how close the hotel is to the terminal building. It was very foggy in the morning though.
Food and drinks
The hotel offers a bar and a restaurant called L’atmosphère Restaurant & Bar, both located on the ground floor next to the lobby area (the bar is even part of the lobby).
The bar offers a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including different beers, wine and spirits.
Other facilities
Free wireless internet is available throughout the hotel and there is also a business centre.
A small gym is available to hotel guests and there is also a conference department with several meeting rooms and conference rooms.
Service
The service was friendly, polite and efficient both at check-in and check-out. Nothing to comment about.
Breakfast
The breakfast is served in the L’atmosphère restaurant on the ground floor. With an early departure and with the breakfast not included in the rate I decided to skip the hotel breakfast to have breakfast at the airport instead.
Final impression
This hotel is all about the location, the proximity to the airport terminal is very hard to beat. Otherwise it is a modern and very well-maintained hotel with everything needed, but possibly a bit uninspiring. Very much a standard Hilton business-style hotel.
