Where is it?

The Park Inn by Radisson Oslo Airport Hotel is located at Oslo Gardermoen airport, the main airport of Oslo. The hotel is located within walking distance from the terminal building and it takes less than five minutes to walk from the arrivals hall to the hotel.

If arriving in Oslo by plane, after passing through baggage reclaim (and customs, on international flights) continue straight ahead through the exit doors to the bus stops on the arrivals level and then turn left and follow the signs for the Park Inn Hotel.

The hotel should not be confused with the Radisson Blu Airport Hotel Oslo Gardermoen, which is also located close to the terminal but with a right turn after exiting the terminal.

The arrival experience

I had a fairly good idea where the hotel was located but once I got to the arrivals hall it turned out to be very easy to follow the signs.

The reception

There were three guests in line at the reception when I arrived but check-in was very quick both for them and for me. As a Club Carlson Gold member I was excited to see if there would be any extra benefits at the hotel. The woman at the reception apologised for not being able to offer me an upgrade but told me they had given me a slightly larger standard room. I was also given free breakfast, which was not included in the rate.

The room

There are 300 rooms at the hotel. All of them are by definition ‘Standard Rooms’ but they have also ‘Business Friendly Rooms’, which are slightly larger and also have a table for four. They are suitable for guests who need to work, hold meetings in the room or for families with children who need some extra space. There are also accessible rooms in the hotel.

My standard room

My room was located on the sixth floor and was indeed very spacious with plenty of space. Possibly this could have been an accessible room.

Very spacious standard room

The room was basic but fairly nicely decorated. There was a comfortable queen-sized bed, an armchair, a small table, a desk and a TV.

The room also had a safe and a kettle to make coffee and tea, but there was no minibar.

The bed has a rather cool light frame with a green colour turned on when I arrived. I later noticed there was a small switch next to the bedside table where you could choose the colour yourself.

The bathroom was fairly basic with shower, toilet and a sink. There were no miniature bottles of shampoo or shower gel and no individual soap. All of these were available, but from large bottles mounted on the wall.

Food and drinks

The hotel has a bar and a restaurant called RBG Bar & Grill located on the ground floor just around the corner from the lobby and the reception. The restaurant specialises in Norwegian food while the bar offers all kinds of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Other facilities

There is a fitness room in the basement and also a fairly large conference centre with conference rooms and meeting rooms.

Service

Very quick and efficient during the stay, which was appreciated when you arrive late and depart early and really want to maximise your time at the hotel and minimise the formalities. Friendly staff both at the reception and in the restaurant, nothing to complain about.

Breakfast

Breakfast was served in the restaurant on the ground floor starting at 5 am in the morning so with the very short walk from the hotel to the terminal most passengers should at least have time for a quick breakfast before their morning flight.

The breakfast restaurant

I was initially not planning on having breakfast in the hotel as I had an early flight and wanted to maximise my sleep. But as it got included in my stay I decided to pass the restaurant in the morning for a cup of coffee and a very quick breakfast before checking out. There were actually quite a few guests in the restaurant already at 5.30 am.

The breakfast buffet

A buffet-style breakfast was offered with hot and cold breakfast items. Possibly on the smaller side for a large international hotel with no such things as pancakes or a wide array of cold cuts. Far from exceptional, but definitely adequate.

I had a cup of coffee, a glass of orange juice and tried one of their warm and egg and bacon rolls I found in the buffet. Not your average hotel breakfast item but quite tasty.

Final impression

A slightly more basic mid-range hotel compared to the more upscale Radisson Blu hotel on the other side of the terminal area. But the location is excellent, the room was nicely decorated, especially with the light frame, and both check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. Perfectly adequate for a short airport stay.
