Lufthansa today introduced a new lounge concept in Munich called “Delights to go”. The idea is that passengers with a short connection time, or passengers arriving late at the airport, should be able to pick up something to eat before the flight.
The first “Delights to Go” is located in terminal 2 in Munich, in the Schengen transit hall in the main terminal building close to gate G19. This means right behind the shopping area and close to the security control for departing passengers.
Entry is provided to all passengers who normally have access to the Lufthansa lounges. So this means business class passengers with Lufthansa and Star Alliance as well as Star Alliance Gold.
Once you have been registered at the small reception counter you enter the main take-away lounge area.
Here there are also coffee machines available to get a cup of coffee and tea.
If you want something to eat you select your option on one of the screens and a box will be delivered to you. The options will change every second week and there will always be three options.
The three options for the first two weeks are the following:
-Classic – tuna wrap or Greek salad
-Balance – sprout sandwich with pear and fig mustard, or quinoa ginger salad
-Local – Munich sausage salad
You also get a small sweet or salt snack, some fresh fruits and a bottle of water.
The questions of course is if this new concept in the future will replace the free snacks served onboard in economy class on Lufthansa shorthaul flights.
