Where is it?

Radisson Blu Arlanda hotel is located on the grounds of Stockholm Arlanda airport. The hotel is located 5-7 minutes by transfer bus from the terminals (the yellow bus marked ‘Alfa’) and it leaves every 15 minutes from 3 am until midnight and in connection with flight departures and arrivals at other times of the day.

If arriving by car the hotel can easily be seen on the right hand side of the access road when approaching the airport area. There is both a parking area at the hotel for guests and a much larger long-term car park for the public next to the hotel. Passengers arriving by bus or train at the airport from the city centre should get off at any one of the terminals and then change to the transfer bus Alfa.

There is also a second Radisson Blu hotel at the airport called Radisson Blu SkyCity Hotel, which is located in SkyCity, between terminal 4 and terminal 5, which may lead to some confusion. This hotel does not require a transfer bus to go between the hotel and the terminals but is on the other hand often more expensive.

The arrival experience

I arrived at the hotel just before 9 pm. This was a Sunday evening so there were not a lot of guests arriving and I was immediately checked in. The process was quick and friendly and I was informed the breakfast would open already at 4.30 am the next morning, in case I had an early flight. I was also given the timetable for the transfer bus back to the airport in the morning and I was asked if I needed a wake-up call.

The room

I had booked a standard room at the hotel. The standard room was tidy and had most facilities needed but felt a bit basic and uninspiring. In particular there were not a single picture on the walls, which would have made a difference. It was perfectly allright for a short airport stay but lacked some atmosphere.

The standard room

The standard room had a double bed, two armchairs, a desk, TV, closet and minibar. The bathroom had toilet and shower as well as the standard Radisson bathroom amenities.

Food and drinks

There is a combined bar and restaurant in the hotel located on the ground floor opposite the reception. The bar is located just by the entrance and is very pleasant with a relaxed atmosphere. There are some nice furniture, including a large nicely-decorated bookshelf, and a very cozy fireplace. I made a quick visit in the evening to have a beer before going to bed.

Other facilities

There is a pretty good relax area in the basement with a swimming pool and a gym as well as a sauna in each locker room.

Next to the pool area there is a play area for children.

The hotel also offers a large conference centre with several conference rooms and meeting rooms. Being located just by the airport the hotel is popular for conferences and events as participants can easily fly in from the rest of Sweden, Scandinavia and northern Europe in the morning and then return again in the evening.

Service

The service was friendly throughout the hotel, including at the reception, at the bar and in the restaurant in the morning. Everything worked perfectly with no issues.

Breakfast

The Super Breakfast Buffet is served in the restaurant and they have impressive opening hours. Breakfast starts at 4.30 am all days of the week and finishes at 9.30 am on weekdays and on 11 am on weekends.

The breakfast buffet had most breakfast items expected from a Radisson Blu hotel including both English, American and Continental breakfast.

Final impression

Although the hotel is located a few minutes by transfer bus from the terminals it offers some excellent facilities including a nice and cozy bar and a very good relax area with pool, gym and sauna. The room felt a bit basic but all staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel worked just fine for an overnight stay at the airport.
