Where is it?
The Aspire Lounge is located airside after security control in the transit area used for both domestic and international departures.
It is actually a rather lengthy walk to get from the security control to the lounge, through the shopping area, the large duty free shop, then a right turn and finally down the escalator to the lower level where the entrance is to the right.
But on the other hand the lounge is just around the corner from the gate areas and many gates can be reached in less than a minute.
How do I get in?
Few full-service airlines fly to Liverpool and hence few airlines provide complimentary access to the lounge.
However there are several ways to enter the lounge such as using Priority Pass, Dragon Pass and Lounge Club or by paying to get access, either in advance or on the day of departure, subject to availability.
It is usually cheaper to prebook access and this will also guarantee available seats.
What’s it like?
The lounge was fully refurbished in July 2018 and gives an excellent first impression. The interior feels new and modern and there are also some nice design details which further give the lounge a cozy feeling.
The visit took place a Saturday late morning when there were few departures, so the lounge was almost completely empty. However it seems like most guests prefer to prebook their visits. During the visit the receptionist was busy going through and preparing the bookings for the afternoon and there were signs on nearly every table saying they were reserved, giving details about the time of arrival and the number of guests.
The lounge itself is fairly spacious and the layout, in combination with the panorama windows facing the transit hall and parts of the apron, give it a rather airy feeling.
There are several seating areas with either armchairs or comfortable sofas with bookshelves used as dividers.
In the centre of the lounge there is a dining area with seats and tables. There is also a bar table with bar stools next to the buffet area.
Food and drinks
A rather good self-service buffet is available in the morning with Full English breakfast on offer including scrambled eggs, bacon, tomatoes and sausages.
Bread rolls, cold cuts, yoghurt, fresh fruits and pastries are also on offer.
Later during the day hot dishes are offered such as pasta with chicken, which seem to change every second month.
Soft drinks, juices, coffee and tea are available for self service while alcoholic drinks are available to order from the manned bar.
The selection of alcoholic drinks includes red and white wine, beer on tap and a standard selection of spirits. These are offered for free but need to be ordered at the manned bar. Champagne and prosecco are available for sale.
Facilities
Free wireless internet is available throughout the lounge and there are plenty of power sockets.
There are no showers in the lounge and no restrooms. Lounge guests are advised to use the public restrooms about a minute from the lounge.
Final impression
This is a very pleasant lounge at a regional airport which was recently refurbished and modernised. Nice interior, decent selection of food and drinks and friendly service.
