The airport authorities of Finavia have decided to make Helsinki Vantaa a quiet airport starting in the beginning of June. This means no flight or passenger announcements will be made in the terminal. Announcements in the gate areas as well as emergency announcements will not be affected.

Finavia advice passengers to use the flight departure screens as well as the airport website or mobile app to keep up-to-date regarding the status of their flights.

The decision has been made as part of the Silent Airport project, a project run by the airport authorities together with the airlines at the aiport. The aim is to improve the comfort in the waiting areas at the airport and to reduce the stress many passengers feel when travelling. Reducing background noise is one step to reach the goal.
